Place-names define the human and natural landscape in which we live. This course enables learners to recognise the different types of place-names, their origins and meaning, and their use in the interpretation of the landscape, settlement and industry of a local area. We will also take a look at field-names, a window on the local history of a village. While concentrating on the distinctive place-names of North Derbyshire, there will be an opportunity for learners to research their own particular interests. Full Fee : £65 Concession A : £58.5
